This past July marked my third trip to Peru in 5 years! Once again I traveled the country with Sean McDonald. We also had Sean’s wife Leigh Ann join us, along with Thomas and Ashley Oliver! Our friends Julio and Jennifer from Iquitos, Peru, met us in Lima and traveled with us the whole trip!
Overall, this trip was filled with learning about the people and cities of Cusco and Arequipa, Peru. Both these cities are located in the Andes mountains resulting in cool nights and sunny warm days. The near by mountains provide plenty of adventure bringing tourists and adventure seekers.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be doing several blog posts highlighting the different segments of the trip.
El Misti Volcano (“The Gentlemen”) is a inactive volcano that always seems to be lingering over the city of Arequipa.
Stopped by several tours where we learned about the process and people who weave alpaca and wool products. Cusco and Arequipa both have a long tradition of weaving.
Colca Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world and 2 hour drive from Arequipa.
The Basilica Cathedral on the Plaza de Armes of Arequipa.
Overlooking the city of Cusco during sunset.
